See all posts

Interviews can be nerve-wracking, but preparing for them should allow you to tackle them with confidence. At Multiverse, we are trying to do things differently. Find out more about how our hiring process works, as well as tips and tricks to give you the best chance of success.

How we hire at Multiverse

Our Recruiter Interview marks the beginning of the hiring process. Your dedicated recruiter will take you through the interview process and be your port of call for support. During this call, you will find out more about what we do at Multiverse, the Learning team, and where the role you are applying for fits into our wider mission. We’ll also ask you questions to learn more about your career history to see how this aligns with our hiring criteria.

Following this, there are four interview stages:

  • Hiring Team Interview focusing on you and your experience at a deeper level. This will be with a senior member of the Learning team.
  • Take Home Task & Review where we review your approach to problem-solving and your reflections on feedback.
  • Hiring Manager Interview where you’ll meet with your future hiring manager, reflecting on your process so far and your value add.
  • Final Interview with our VP of Learning or Chief Operations Officer.

Let's dive deeper into each stage.

Hiring Team Interview

In this stage, you’ll be speaking to one or two members of our Learning team to get a real feel for the role and Multiverse culture. This stage is a great opportunity to ask team-specific questions and learn more about the role from those you’ll work with.

During this interview, you’ll notice that the Hiring Team will be note-taking, which ensures we have an accurate account of your interview to refer to at the decision-making stage.

During this call, we will:

  • Get to know you! We want to know what you are passionate about and how this aligns with the Multiverse mission.
  • Focus on your impact and outcomes. We'll delve into your previous experience to understand how you have made an impact during your career.
  • Answer your questions. Specifically about the role and Multiverse overall.

Tips

  • Think about what aspects of our work excites you and how your skills align with that. Read through the job description in detail, review our website, and read some of our blog posts to get an idea of what is going on in the business right now.
  • At Multiverse, one of our values is ‘we make decisions based on facts and logic’ so come equipped with data points that prove the impact you’ve made.
  • We’ll have a few “tell me about a time...” questions where we want to hear about things you’ve done, projects you’ve worked on, and most importantly the results you helped to achieve. It’s incredibly helpful to think about how you structure your answers - the STAR method (opens new window)can help highlight your achievements in a clear and concise way.

Take Home Task & Reflections

Next up, we’ll send you a task to complete in your own time. We hope that being able to do the task at home reduces stress by allowing you to choose your own timing and location.

The purpose of the take home task is to allow us to see:

  • How you approach problem-solving
  • How you are able to analyse information into a digestible format
  • How you respond to feedback

The interview is split into two parts.

In the first half of the interview, you’ll walk the interviewers through your submission in a presentation format. This allows them to ask questions and assess you on the above criteria.

The second half of the interview is a space for reflection. We value feedback at Multiverse and we’ll be looking at how you seek and respond to live feedback as well as reflect on your own performance. This is followed by a short Q&A section.

Tips

  • Consider how you can effectively convey your thought process to the interviewers. You may be asked to share your rationale or elaborate on responses.
  • Be comfortable making assumptions, we don’t expect you to have all of the answers but you have to be able to reinforce your decisions with fact and logic.

Hiring Manager Interview

Hiring the best people is foundational to our success as a business. This stage is a chance for you to distinguish yourself and think about your special achievements. This interview is all about impact and backing this up with strong data points. Think about the story you are trying to tell and how your data paints this picture.

Tips

  • Have a strong understanding of the feedback you have received so far.
  • Come prepared with knowledge of your Unique Selling Point (USP). What makes you extra special and how can you shout out about it?
  • Think about new and relevant examples that you may have not used before.

Final Interview

For most roles in the Learning team, the final interview stage will be with our VP of Learning. For some, more senior roles, you may interview with both our VP of Learning and our Chief Operations Officer.

During the interview, you’ll be asked to reflect on what you have learned so far and the feedback given to date. This is the final opportunity for us to assess you against our hiring criteria and for you to ask questions to understand if this is the right role and company for you.

From there, it’s decision time for us and we'll carefully consider your experience to date and performance through each interview stage. You can expect to hear from a member of the team within 2 working days of your interviews and we’ll always offer you feedback.

We really hope that you choose to join our team on its amazing journey. We’re just getting started!
