Amy Gervasio and Sherwin Holder took part in our inaugural Sales Academy and have since been promoted into permanent roles as Commercial Account Executives at Multiverse. Read this blog to find out more about the Sales Academy and what a day in the life of a Multiverse sales intern looks like.
What is the Multiverse Sales Academy?
Our Sales Team is the engine powering our 350% year-on-year growth, helping us to achieve our mission of creating a diverse group of future leaders. Working from a world-class playbook, our Sales Team set targets before identifying potential new clients and opportunities. For us, each deal is unique. By forging close relationships with organisations, we secure tailored apprenticeship partnerships that are transformative for employers and employees alike.
We’re looking for exceptional people to join our six-month Sales Academy internship. Those who are successful at the end of the program will be offered a permanent, full-time job. During the Sales Academy, you will receive regular training and mentoring from current Multiverse Sales professionals. This includes coaching from Jeremy Duggan, President at Multiverse, and Steve McCluskey, VP of Go-to-Market, who have an impressive track record of taking five tech companies to billion-dollar valuations - including Multiverse!
What does a typical day look like for a Sales Academy intern?
- Finding new business opportunities - a big part of the role is building a pipeline of new clients so we spend a lot of time on the phone, speaking to stakeholders at a huge variety of companies. We get to learn about their business and share how apprenticeships can solve their challenges and drive their business forward.
- Developing our existing accounts - we engage with our existing clients over the phone, by email and through client meetings to strengthen our relationships and build on our partnership.
- Training and coaching sessions - we receive lots of training on the playbook and how to run the sales process, and we get to learn about enterprise business from the Sales Leadership at Multiverse.
- Buddy meetings - we have regular one-to-one meetings with our buddy so we can ask questions and receive feedback, helping to kickstart our career in Sales.
- Weekly team meetings - during our team meetings we get to share what we’re working on, align priorities, and hear business updates.
- Supporting the team - we provide operational support to the wider team when working on big deals.
- Data and reporting - it’s important to spend time accurately reporting on our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and preparing for the weekly forecast meetings.
- Socials - at the end of the day, we often grab a drink or some food together to celebrate our wins!
Why did you apply to join the Sales Academy?
“The appeal for me was two-fold. The opportunity to learn how to become excellent in a safe and supportive environment under some of the best sales leaders, as well as explore my skill set in a role which was client-facing and focused on strategy and problem solving. I'm definitely grateful that I was able to kick-off my sales career in this role.”
What was your favourite thing about the Sales Academy?
“As a former apprentice, I have experienced first-hand the benefits as well as the challenges of choosing an alternative pathway. I've always had an interest in business but struggled to do my part to create a socially mobile and diverse workforce so that others like me have access to great careers. Through the Sales Academy, I've truly been able to make a visible impact from both a social and commercial perspective as well as develop my knowledge and skills in the world of enterprise. A truly unique experience!”
Applications for our 3rd Sales Academy cohort are open!
Building on the success of our first two cohorts, we’re thrilled to be hiring for our Sales Academy once again. Apply here.(opens new window)
At Multiverse, we’re working hard to ensure our team better reflects the communities we serve. With this in mind, we particularly welcome candidates from ethnic minority backgrounds to apply, as they are currently underrepresented in the Sales Team.
No sales experience is required for this entry level role. And there are no specific academic requirements.
Instead, we want to see potential. This may be demonstrated through your grades, or it might shine through in something else. Something like volunteering, sports or hobbies taken to a high level, challenges overcome, or even a side hustle made BIG. We’re looking for go-getters that always make the most of their talents.
You must be available to start the Sales Academy on Monday 3rd October 2022 on a full-time basis and be based permanently in the UK with the Right to Work. Unfortunately, we don't offer sponsorship.
The internship will be based in London. There will be some working from home, some working from our office in Marylebone, and some visiting clients across London and beyond.
